Still inspired by his first loven drawing, has retained his taste for decoration, light, and color. He experiments with compositions, lines, and perspectives, creating his palette before his images. This thoughtful artist’s photographs are carefully constructed, considered, and deliberate.
“I first sketch out my ideas, imagining the images. This is my creative process. I am more in tune with painting and drawing than photography.”
Yann Rabanier — Photographer
While at Château Palmer in July 2022, the photographer was given carte blanche to wander freely from cellar to château, from the vines to the wines. As if responding to the scorching summer that year, Yann Rabanier played with cool shades, where the cyan of anthocyanins left its mark as much on the winegrower’s hand as the sky in this portrait of a sun at its zenith. In this series, we rediscovered his delicate vision, his talent for framing, and his work – extremely vivid, in this case – with light. We watched, dazzled, as the bottles were lengthened, distorted, and adorned with a lunar aesthetic in blacks and blues.
YANN RABANIER IS A FRENCH PHOTOGRAPHER, famed for his portraits of major figures in the art and film worlds. His painter-inspired, beautifully staged, and often offbeat approach hones in on the characters themselves, the charisma behind the names. He then arranges them in the understated, intriguing ambience through which he likes to express himself.
Yann Rabanier is represented by the Modds photo agency.
